    title: Girls School
    Date: 2004/2/20

Memo: This girls school is next to the spinning and weaving training facilty and located on the same grounds. This is a small girls school privately funded by both local and international religious councils. The school has limited capacity, however, those that are fortunate enough to be chosen for attendance are accepted from outlying areas where facilities are not available for education. Many of these children come from local tribes and other outlying communities. There are many more children desiring education than what the school can accommodate. Those that are accepted do live on the facility and feel extremely fortunate for the opportunity to be educated which is viewed as an opportunity to improve their life and living conditions. Education and knowledge is an opportunity for employment.

We were invited and visited some of the classrooms and grade levels, however, I did not impose on them by taking pictures. Since I'm not a journalist or other sort of visitor, I felt it was a privelege to meet them and learn about their goals rather than a classroom photo opportunity which invades their privacy. It was paramount that the children felt priveleged themselves to be able to attend school and wasted no effort on anything that wasn't associated with their goals for learning and education of their future.
